Tinting Porsches. How do you safely tint a Porsche without damaging the leather and water soaking it? We're going to show you today on this 2022 Porsche 911 GT3. This car is in beautiful Shark Blue. And we are doing window tint today. So, we're going to be doing a ceramic tint to do sides, back, and windshield in this product so that it keeps the heat out, cuts the glare on the track, and looks amazing.

The tent we'll be installing today is ULTRAFIT. Now, I love ULTRAFIT's lineup of tint. Their stuff blocks a lot of heat. The adhesives work really well so that they don't bubble and lift over time. And the shades of darkness that you can get vary from legal, which is 25%. All the way up to 50%, which I don't have here.

And you can even get limo, which is 5% right here. So, we'll be installing 25% sides and back so that our client can have the heat rejection and privacy he's looking for without his vision being compromised at night. So, let's talk about how leather gets damaged, right? Porsche uses all genuine leather in all of their premium vehicles.

Now, this leather is very, very prone to water damage. Now, this is true of Porsches, Mercedes, Audi, and BMW. Any of their vehicles with this premium leather, this stitching can become water logged. So, effectively, what'll happen is that this stitching here will absorb a little bit of water. That water will get transferred to the leather and then you'll get a raised spot here on the door cart.

So to prevent that, we have a couple precautions as we install the window tint on this car. First and foremost, the door card is going to be coming out. Thankfully, these door cards come out very easily. They're not held in by a bunch of tight clips that are prone to breaking. They're actually just a couple hooks. They come out easy peasy.

Now, we take these door cards out whenever we're doing window tint, but also when we're doing PPF, if we have to remove the mirror cards, kind of like on my 911 that you guys will be seeing soon here as well, where we did full body PPF. On the panels that we're not removing, we will be shielding with plastic and a towel.

So plastic goes underneath and then the towel goes on top of the panel where it's adjacent to the window. So this right here, this plastic will help just give us another layer of insurance just in case that towel becomes a little bit too much water logged. And this will mitigate any chances of water damage on the leather.

Do you like something? better. Ain't that right, Ron? So, why even do window tint on a car like a GT3? Outside of the obvious, the looks and the heat rejection, one of the things people don't really think about with window tint is the glare reduction. So, this vehicle does get driven on the track, you don't want that sun getting in your face when you're going 130 mi down a straight, right?

So, the window tint, it cuts glare significantly, which means that when the sun is in your eyes, it's not going to blind you completely, improving the safety and visibility of your vehicle. Bro, [ __ ] go right now. There you guys have it. That is how you do window tint on a Porsche with all of that extended beautiful leather.

Right. You look at the end result. This is 25% sides and back and 50% in the windshield. In my shop, it looks dark, but when you actually drive it outside, it's quite modest. Uh, believe it or not, this is legal limit here in Texas. So, just dark enough to give you the privacy you're looking for without being so dark that you can't see out at night.

Most importantly, because we have taken precautions, all of this leather and interior is going to be in perfect condition. So, this is the safest way to tint. You can see the horror stories of what happens when you don't take these kinds of precautions. And here at Humble Crew Auto Spa, I don't want to take that chance. So, I would rather not have an insurance claim.

And this is how we avoid those. So, if you got a Porsche or any kind of German car with extended leather and you want to protect it the right way, you want to get the tint that you're looking for, but you also don't want to damage or risk damaging any interior, bring it to the pros and let it get it done right the first time.

It's Jesse at Humble Crew Auto Spa and I'll catch you later.
