Completely changing the color of this BMW M8 with COLOR PPF
What is Color PPF?
Color Paint Protection Film is a film that is applied to exterior finishes to not only preserve, but change the appearance of the paint completely.
Color Changing PPF does everything we already love about clear PPF, but it features a deep finish similar to a high end paint job.

Damage & durability
Super Durable
Paint Protection Film is a layer of material that is thick enough to take physical damage like rock chips, scuffs, and swirl marks. That means that your car’s paint stays in mint condition while the material is on your vehicle, preserving the vehicle’s OEM finish.
Self Healing Abilities
Color Change PPF also heals minor swirl marks and scratches with some heat. Simply park your vehicle outside, and any light scratches will diminish with exposure to the sun, keeping your finish crystal clear.

Bespoke install · tucked edges
Bespoke Install
Full body Color Change PPF is installed Bespoke; panels, mirrors, badges, and more are disassembled for a clean tuck of the film around the edges. This results in a finish that not only fully protects the panels and surfaces, but also looks as good as an OEM paint job.
Blue. Green. Red. Yellow. Matte. Gloss. Yes.
This is the most fun part, picking a great color. Color Changing PPF comes in hundreds of colors, so you can customize your car to your heart’s content.

What's going on guys? Jesse at Humble Crew Auto Spa and today we've got an awesome special project. Today we are going to be doing full ULTRAFIT color PPF on my new to me Carrera T. This is a 2024 992 911 Carrera T. That's a lot of words, a lot of numbers for a name of a car, but that's what it's called.
911 Carrera T. So, this vehicle is going to be getting full ULTRAFIT chroma blue paint protection film. It's a very interesting color. It is blue that shifts into purple depending on the angle. And for curvy cars like my 911, it's going to really experience that color shift. So, I am so excited to work on my car finally.
I keep working on your guys' cars. I don't have any time for me. Now, we do. So, we're going to show you front to back kind of what prep work goes into color PPF, it's a lot more tedious than uh clear PPF. Color PPF, especially if we're going from white to dark blue. You have to be very thorough.
You have to be extremely bespoke. And if you've been following my channel, you know we are all about that bespoke PPF install. So, little bit about the prep work that we're going to be doing. We are going to be taking out badges, front bumper. All of this black trim has to come out cuz the film's going to get tucked underneath.
We're going to be taking out headlights. The side markers. The wheels are going to be coming off. The mirror is coming off. Door handle is to be determined cuz sometimes you can get this to lay in one piece without taking it out. Sometimes you can't. We're going to find out. We got to remove old kind of like stone kind of hip PPF here, the stone guard.
So, we're going to be taking that OEM PPF off. We will be taking out the tail lights. We'll be taking out the rear badge. We'll even probably be taking out all of this kind of black trim here. So, this is a very extensive installation, but that's what you got to do for color PPF to get it done right now.
Thankfully, my car does come equipped with a carbon fiber roof. Check that out. That looks pretty freaking good. So, because it's carbon, I don't have to wrap that. Saves me quite a bit of labor. So, we're going to take it from white to ULTRAFIT chroma blue. I'm going to take you behind the scenes. I will see you on the flip side.
So, with any service here at Humble Crew Auto Spa, it starts with a great three bucket wash. That's two buckets for paint, one bucket for wheels. If you guys have been following me, you know that this wash is the best way to safely wash your car without scratching the paint. We're going to be doing what's called a chemical decontamination, which pulls out things like sap, bug guts, iron deposits that are stuck in the paint.
So, all of those things have to be dissolved with specialty chemicals in order to get this paint minty clean. It's really important that this is a decontamination wash, not just a regular prep wash. So decontamination washes will have us clean all of the paint, clean all the crevices with the brush as well. We got to make sure all of the dirt and grime is out from there.
Since we're doing paint protection foam everywhere, it is very important that we get all of that grime out. Then we're going to do the decontamination itself. So that involves us doing a clay bar to pull out embedded contaminants that are stuck in the paint that don't come out with a wash in order to get this paint minty clean before we lay Holy smokes.
Now that is a disassembly, right? We've taken out a lot of panels. So, headlights, front bumper, we've taken out. We've taken out the plastic inards of those front and rear bumpers. That's probably the most tedious part about this disassembly, but we have to do that so that all the film can get tucked. If we're going from white to chroma blue, if you don't tuck anything, you will see that white edge.
Obviously, we cannot have that. So, the only way to get a true tucked insulation is to remove those plastics, which we have done. We have also removed the mirrors as well as any kind of like the the side skirt here. So, you can see we got it kind of hanging here. We're going to be tucking the film under this way as well.
Again, this is the only way we can ensure full coverage of that blue paint protection film. On the back side here, we've removed the tail light. We've removed the rear bumper as well. We removed the diffuser. There's a lot of disassembly that happens here. Everything has to get sorted into little bins and baggies. Make sure that we don't lose any clips.
But that is how we get this thing minty fresh during our installation. For the interior, we'll be doing something special as well. We'll be disassembling all of the interior piano black. I hate piano black finishes. They scratch easily. They look dusty. Every time you wipe it, you'll see little swirl marks. So, we'll be wrapping all of the piano black in chromol as well, but we had to go and disassemble the interior first.
So, that's going to be a little extra project on this vehicle, but I think it's going to be really worth it as well. We're going to be bulking a lot of the front and rear bumpers. We're going to be doing a lot of this extended stuff, right? So, this is the kit for the front bumper. Here's the rear bumper.
But because we're going to be using bulk, how do we know how much to cut? Right? So, we actually use core to cut these giant rectangles out. So, you can see this is the rear bumper. We've got this piece that fits right inside this little rectangle. There's a lot of margin for error on the left and the right side.
So, we can stretch it across. Easy, easy, easy peasy. This is the front bumper here. So, we're going to be bulking this piece as well. So, as I take it out, you can see this piece right here that I am cutting. This will be used for the front bumper. So, uh, this is what we'll do to get that bespoke installation.
So, normally if it was clear, we would just use the kit, but because we're doing color, we're going to do bulk. With all of the PPF plotted out and cut, now it's time to lay that paint protection film onto the car. Awesome. Oh yeah. So, I want to talk a little bit about ULTRAFIT. Why do we pick this particular PPF on this car?
This year I went to SEMA and it was a really good time. A whole week of just convention centers full of new automotive technology, all new uh brands of PPF, ceramic coatings, and window tint. It seems to be that this year the main motif was paint protection film. So if you go to SEMA, everybody and their mom has a new brand of color PPF, right?
All these Chinese manufacturers like, oh, we've got 200 plus colors, yada da da. And you know what? That's really cool until you realize that, hey, what happens if this film delaminates? What happens if it peels kind of funny or the adhesive is weak? A couple months ago, I actually had another brand of color PPF on my vehicle and it went bad.
If you look at some of this old B-roll, not even sticking. Look at this. I've never seen PPF. I mean, look at that. Check this out. This is a hard flat surface with a whole lot of sun. Look how easy it comes off. It's not even It's not even hot. It's in the shade. Like, watch this. Look at that.
The story is I went on a little trip. I went to Boxtoberfest with this Porsche, right? A little driving event. And during that trip, this PPF started to peel back really bad. So, if you look at some of this footage, you can see, yeah, it was coming off with uh pretty much no effort at all. I don't want that experience with my client vehicles.
And so, we're very particular about the type of PPF that we offer here at Humble Crew Auto Spa. And so with color PPF, the labor is the most expensive part and I don't want to have to redo all this work that you're seeing us do right now. With ULTRAFIT, what I really like about it is that it's extremely consistent.
The quality control of ULTRAFIT is what I really appreciate. They really take their time. They do a great job and they'll recall a film over the smallest defect. And I appreciate that dedication to quality. Not everybody says they have a quality film, but what we've seen with ULTRAFIT consistently is that their product performs and it looks great.
A lot of times you'll see other places install color PPF using Chinese materials. You know, who knows how good it's going to last. Is it better than vinyl? For sure. But how durable is it? Only time will tell. And for me, if I'm dropping 5, 8, $10,000 on PPF, I don't want to roll the dice with a brand that I haven't heard before.
So, with ULTRAFIT, it's been vetted. We know it works really well. And the product looks amazing and that's why we're doing ULTRAFIT on this car today. All right, we're going to start on the quarter panel here. So, because we've removed the glass, you can see how far we're able to tuck. Removing glass not only allows us to tuck, but especially for full body clear bra of any kind.
When we remove this glass, it allows us to clean here, too. So, a lot of times when the glass is on there and the gasket is on there, dirt and grime will get stuck all along the edges. And it doesn't matter how many times you go in there with a brush and clean it, it'll always try to drip back out.
But because we've taken out this glass, uh there won't be any dripping of that contaminant. There is no contaminant because we've cleaned it uh squeaky clean. And so as we lay this color PPF, we're going to tuck. It's going to be clean. And that's how we're going to get a great install today. All righty, Guys, the project is finished.
Let me take you back there and show you the fruits of our labor. Check it out. Look at that blue shifting into purple. That looks fantastic. Look at that shift, man. It is such an intense and beautiful color. You can see because we've done that full bespoke PPF even around the trims over here. You can't tell that there is a wrap here.
It's tucked so deep that you uh can't distinguish, right? There's no white showing. So, even over here too, this is where it's really important. You can see like corners tucked in very tight. Headlights too because we took all the headlights out, tucked the film way deep under there, including where the turn signal is. That is a very bespoke install.
Take a look at some of this B-roll, too. You can see that the PPF is very, very tight. corners, badges, emblems, door handles, all that kind of stuff. It is very, very tight. This PPF, this project took well over a week to complete. I mean, these bespoke PPFs, especially full color change PPF, they're very labor intensive. So, I've haven't really found a cheaper way to do this, a faster way, because the results that we're looking for require this level of expertise.
There's just no shortcut to get that kind of clean PPF. This is just what it takes. So, if you want to give your car something really interesting, you want to give it not only full body paint protection, but you want to give it something truly unique, paint protection film comes in so many different colors. This is ULTRAFIT Chroma Blue.
So, this is that blue that shifts into purple, but they've got all sorts of other crazy wacky stuff, too. Or they got more conservative stuff if you're into that. But, uh, you shouldn't have to have a boring car. So, if you want something like this, you want the best bespoke PPF is the way to go. This is Jesse at Humble Crew Auto Spa signing out.
